This division deals with social policy and practice matters. Our expertise is mainly in the areas of gender, alternative masculinity, land, and public health. Recently completed assignments by TCH or its Senior Fellows include:

1. UNIFEM/GTZ
Developed the Strategic Plan for the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Development, Kenya. This included the development of an M&E system and the Operational Plans as well. The overall strategy for the Social Protection Fund was also developed in this process under the children department.

2. ADB
Conducted a strategy review and developed the Strategic Plan for the Gender Commission, Kenya.

3. Norad/AAY
Transformative Masculinity Programme Design and Baseline Survey for Madagascar, and Zimbabwe. TCH is currently guiding the implementation of this programme whose intention is to transform the hegemonic notions of youth masculinity into transformative masculinity.

4. IRCK
A review of Conditional Cash Transfer (CT-OVC) facility. This is a Social protection facility for the Ministry of Gender Children and Social Development/UNICEF to OVCs.

5. ADB/Rwanda Government
Recruitment of Senior Policy Advisor on Social Policy situated at the Strategy and Policy Unit, Office of the President.

6. KFH/Ministry of Health, Rwanda
Locating and placing 29 nursing staff for King Faisal Hospital. Done with technical support from School of Nursing, University of Nairobi.

7. SIDA
Facilitated the Non-State Sector’s input into the finalization of the National Land Policy and Chapter five of the Constitution of Kenya.

8. SDI/Muungano
Developed the Statement of Intent for Muungano Support Trust. Muungano is the Federation of Kenya Slum Dwellers, a local chapter of the Slum Dwellers International.
