KNOWLEDGE BANKING & INNOVATION

Under KBI, we carry out short studies for bi-lateral, multi-lateral and governmental agencies. These are policies aimed at ‘banking knowledge’ or influencing policy, legislation and practice. Our past projects include:-

1. UNDP/TCH
From Monopoly to Oligopoly of Violence: A Security Mapping of Militia and Organised Gangs in Kenya. This is an on-going study led by TCH Principal Fellow and one of its Senior Associate Fellows, who is also a lecturer at University of Nairobi and the National Defense College, Nairobi. The study is meant to influence policy and practice choices for GoK.

2. SDI/MuST
Slum dwellers International (SDI) and its Kenya Chapter, Muungano/MuST have commissioned TCH to document the history of the slum dwellers movement in Kenya through four transition cycles. This is to be in the form of a book: “The Invisible Civil Society in Kenya - ”
